About Us

Who We Are

CJI was founded by a retired major crimes police investigator who observed that too often innocent individuals, unable to pay for a proper investigation into their charges, plead guilty to get a reduced sentence. As a result they are unjustly incarcerated, when a simple review of the case would uncover the facts that would help get the charges dropped.

As former police detectives in the Twin Cities, CJI founders have seen the inequities of the criminal justice system for those who are indigent but required to contribute.

CJI closes the inequality gap by fielding investigators who gather evidence that might inform a plea agreement, or exonerate the accused. CJI identifies issues, tracks-down surveillance videos, conducts interviews, and produces summary findings in accessible ways for defense attorneys. CJI provides these services at no cost to the defendant.
